Documenting Traditional Farming Methods: Reviving Indigenous Agricultural Knowledge

GREEN Foundation utilises the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method to document traditional farming methods and indigenous knowledge by building strong community relationships. They engage with farmers, especially elders, to capture knowledge passed down through generations. This information, along with scientific research, is used for on-farm conservation, allowing evolutionary crop adaptation and giving farmers control over their genetic resources. GREEN Foundation conducts experimentation to validate organic farming techniques, such as seed treatment and biopesticide preparations. Successful methods are documented, disseminated, and revived through publications, training programmes, and exposure visits, ensuring that the farming community benefits from this rich repository of traditional knowledge. https://greenfoundation.in/documenting-indigenous-knowledge
